The investigation of the scene sugggests that Bell had broken through the thin ice there while walking. The temperature at the time was in the high twenties, but with the wind, the wind chill was into the teens. The cold temperatures brought hypothermia quickly to Bell, who succumbed to the cold.
Bell’s remains were transported to Anchorage to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
Next of kin were notified of Bell’s death.
The investigation into Bell’s death is complete.
