HEADQUARTERS, U.S. ARMY ALASKA, JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska – A U.S. Army Alaska soldier died June 25 at approximately 7:50 p.m. after crashing his motorcycle at the intersection of Minnesota Drive and Jefferson Avenue in Anchorage.
According to the incident report, Army Staff Sgt. Maurice O. Tucker, of Junction City, Kansas, was riding with two fellow soldiers when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a light pole. His fellow soldiers stopped and rendered aid along with emergency medical responders, but Tucker was declared dead at the scene.
Tucker joined the U.S. Army in November 2009. The 31-year-old soldier completed an assignment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before arriving in Alaska in January 2015, where he was assigned to U.S. Army Alaska’s 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division as a platoon sergeant.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Anchorage Police Department. Tucker’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
