Alaska State troopers report that they have taken a juvenile into custody in connection with the shooting deaths of 40-year-old mother, Renee and her 10-year-old Son, Dean Millard of Wasilla who were killed on Monday, February 1.
Troopers were called at 8:22 AM and the caller reported gunshots at the home. When they responded they located the two people deceased and and the Alaska Bureau of investigation took over the investigation into the double homicides. They would find that the 911 call was made from inside the home by another juvenile.
The double killings would spur the Mat-Su School District to place the Meadow Lakes and Tanaina elementary schools in the stay-put mode for a short time on Monday.
a helicopter circled overhead searching the area, while Alaska State troopers closed off the roads leading into the neighborhood temporarily.
It was at 6 PM on Tuesday that a juvenile was taken into custody and handed over to the Division of Juvenile Justice. The juvenile’s name was withheld as cases handled by DJJ are confidential.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
