According to Alaska State Troopers, the house fire in Lower Kalskag that took place on the 16th of June was intentionally set.
In an Alaska State Trooper dispatch, troopers say they received a report of a house fire in the village at 8:24 am. One person was injured in the blaze. 32-year-old Joseph Nash was transported to Anchorage with non-life threatening injuries.
After an investigation of the fire, Alaska State Troopers and the state Fire Marshall’s office say that Nash started the fire in the house after assaulting a household member and putting that person in fear of serious injury after assaulting them with a dangerous instrument.

Nash is being charged with Arson I, Criminal Mischief I, Assault III (DV), Assault IV (DV), Unlawful Contact I, and a probation violation. Those charges have been forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.
