Alaska State Troopers are calling a shooting that occurred in Ketchikan on Sunday evening probably accidental according to the trooper dispatch, but the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Alaska State Troopers received a call at 7:41 pm on Sunday evening reporting that 22-year-old Samson Mullenax had been shot while at the gravel pit off of Brown Mountain Road in Ketchikan.
The caller reported that Mullenax had suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to the Peace Health Ketchikan Medical Center by friends. But, Mullenax was pronounced dead at the center.
According to Mullenax’s facebook page, he worked at the Ketchikan Indian Community and Tribal Health Clinic.
Mullenax’s next of kin were notified of the incident.
