34-year-old Shaun Johnson was arrested in Kiana by the VPSO on Sunday at 9 pm on Disorderly Conduct charges after the VPSO observed an intoxicated Johnson shoving his girlfriend causing her to fall. Johnson was on probation with alcohol restrictions.
According to the reports, Johnson was combative with the VPSO when the VPSO was placing him under arrest, delaying the procedure for a few minutes as they struggled. Shortly after, Johnson was taken under control.
As is routine in village cases, troopers fly into the community and fly the prisoners out to the local hub of Kotzebue, where they post bail, are remanded or appear in court. An hour later troopers arrived to do just that. Johnson continued his combative behavior with the troopers after they arrived for him. Johnson fought them at the jail, as well as while he was being transported to the village airport.
Johnson , along with three other individuals were being transported to Kotzebue this Sunday on a chartered flight for that purpose.

Shortly after take-off from Kiana, Johnson continued his unruly behavior on the aircraft. He tried to open the aircraft door and smash the aircraft window with his head, according to reports. Troopers feared Johnson may cause interference to the flight of the plane with his actions, so he was subsequently tasered until he stopped fighting.
All was well until the aircraft was coming in to land at Kotzebue. Again Johnson acted out and began kicking at the Pilot’s seat.
Fearing that Johnson would cause a crash as the plane was attempting to land, Johnson was again tasered and he was physically subdued for the last portion of the flight.
Johnson was remanded without bail at the Kotzebue jail. He is being charged with Disorderly Conduct, Assault IV on a Police Officer, four counts of Assault III, and a Petition to Revoke Probation.
