On Saturday morning, a logging camp near Nutkwa Lagoon, on Prince of Wales Island, reported a fatal industrial accident to the Alaska State Troopers in Klawock.

The investigation into the incident revealed that 36-year-old Bill Worley of Klawock was working in the timber sorting yard of the camp when a 700 foot long log approximately 16 inches in diameter crashed down from a logging cradle that was above Worley.
Immediately following the accident, Worley was pronounced dead at the scene.
No foul play is suspected in the incident, but Worley’s remains were sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was nottified of the incident.
Next of kin were notified.
