Troopers are asking for assistance from the public in locating a Kobuk man who is charged with multiple Sexual Assault charges. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest on June 1st.
Authorities have been seeking to arrest 53-year-old Clifton R. Sun since charges of Sexual Abuse of a Minor I, Sexual Assault I, Sexual Assault II, Sexual Abuse of a Minor II, and Assault IV were leveled at him on the first day of last month. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in late May of 2015 involving a 14-year-old teen.
Troopers have sought Sun in the community of Kobuk “since the initial report,” the trooper dispatch revealed. Sun has been seen in the community in the last week, but troopers report that “community members were unable to detain him.” Authorities believe that “some people were assisting in hiding and supporting Sun’s ability to remain free on these serious offenses.”
Troopers actively searched for Sun on Tuesday in the community.
People are encouraged to contact troopers in Kotzebue at 907-442-3222 with information they have regarding Sun’s whereabouts or they may remain anonymous by making a report through Crimestoppers at 907-561-STOP (7867). Individuals may be eligible for a cash reward for information leading to Sun’s arrest.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
