Betty Joan Perske, better known as the famous Lauren Bacall, one half of Bogey and Bacall passed away at the age of 89 in New York today.
Bacall , who broke in to the silver screen in 1944 starring opposite Humphry Bogart in “To Have and Have Not,” would marry Bogart a year later and remain with him for the next 12 years until his death and make three more films with him with Warner Bros. When they married, she was 20 and he was 45.
After Bogey’s death in 1957, Bacall would have a relationship with Frank Sinatra before marrying again in 1961, this time to Jason Robards. That marriage would last eight years.
Through her film career, Bacall would also star with screen bigs Gregory Peck, Kirk Douglas, Gary Cooper, John Wayne and Rock Hudson. She would be in over 50 movies during her long career.

During her brilliant career, Bacall entertained millions and taught Bogey how to whistle.
