On Saturday afternoon, at about 3 pm, a two-year-old child was brought to the clinic in Kipnuk with breathing problems.

The child was vomiting and having difficulty breathing when he was brought in by his father, 36-year-old Lesster Pavila.
Shortly afteer arriving there, the child stopped breathing. Health Aides immediately began resusitation efforts, but to no avail. At 3:30 pm, the child was declared deceased.
Alaska State Troopers were notified at 3:55 pm by Dr. Mosley YKHC, that the child had passed away at the clinic.
Alaska State Troopers arrived to investigate. No cause for the death was apparent, but alcohol was not an issue. The child’s body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
The child’s parents were at the clinic when the incident occured and so, were notified.
The investigation into the cause of death is still on-going.
