Early Sunday morning, troopers on WIlliwaWay saw a man staggering down the center of the road and decided to stop him to check on his welfare.
When they stopped the man at 27 minutes past midnight on Friday morning, they identified him as 42-year-old Garret Cooper. They found that Cooper had an outstanding warrant, and so attempted to place him under arrest.
Cooper would have none of it however, and assaulted the officer and fled the scene on foot. The trooper gave chase and after a short pursuit, took Cooper under control. The Trooper dispatch reported that Coooper was transported to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center after his arrest to be treated for unrelated injuries.
WHen Cooper was searched, according to the dipatch, he had several different narcotics on his person. Cooper was charged with MICS IV, MICS V, MICS VI, Assault IV, Resisting Arrest and Diorderly Conduct.
Cooper was taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there with his bail set at $6,500 and a court approved third party custodian.
