Thursday at noon, Bethel-based State Troopers were notified of an overdue boater. The boater was known to have medical issues.

As a result of the notification troopers launched a state aircraft to find the man identified as 54-year-old Gordon R. Coffee of Marshal.

At 5 pm yesterday afternoon, Coffee’s boat was located near a slough off of the Yukon River. Coffee was found deceased.

Although no foul play is suspected in Coffee’s death, a trooper investigation into the incident is still on-going.

Coffee’s body was transported to Bethel until funeral arrangements can be made.
