Alaska State Troopers were notified on Thursday that two Boaters from Graying were missing since Monday.
The two boaters, identified as 50-year-old Michael Hamilton and 52-year-old Edgar Rock, had left Grayling in an 18-foot skiff on Monday and boated upriver on the Yukon. They had planned to return that evening but never arrived back at Grayling.

A search with Alaska State Trooper aircraft was launched on Thursday, but flights over the area yielded no results. Water conditions on the river were poor because of inclement weather and so a river search was impossible. With no results of their search, efforts were called off until the next day.
On Friday, an Alaska Wildlife Trooper aircraft, as well as a civil air patrol aircraft took up the search for the missing boaters. At 12:16 pm, an overturned skiff was located on the river. It was discovered about six miles upriver from Grayling.
The Alaska Wildlife Trooper aircraft continued the search along with local search and rescue personnel searching by boat. The aircraft located Rock on a sandbar at 2:47 pm. At 3:07 pm, Hamilton was also found. He was near the village of Grayling when he was discovered. Both men were successfully transported back to Grayling.
The two men report that they were returning to Grayling on Monday night when their craft was overturned by waves on the river.
