A Mountain Village woman will soon be in the custody of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel on charges of Assault I and II and Hit and Run after an incident that unfolded in that community on Wednesday.
22-year-old Georgianne Hanson was arrested by Alaska State Troopers after they traveled to Mountain Village to investigate a Hit and Run collision in the community involving a pedestrian and a toddler in a stroller after they received a report of the incident at 2:37 pm on Wednesday.
The trooper investigation revealed that Hanson was operating a four-wheeler with a passenger on back when she saw another Mountain Village resident and stopped and began arguing. It was after that argument that Hanson allegedly told the 34-year-old woman that she was going to hit her with her four-wheeler.
True to her words, Hanson drove a short distance away and then turned around and drove back at the woman who was pushing a stroller with a toddler aboard. She intentionally ran into the woman and the child then drove away without rendering aid.
The woman and the toddler were transported to the Mountain Village Clinic by a good Samaritan, then later “medevaced to a hospital in Bethel for treatment of what appear to be non-life threatening injuries,” according to the trooper dispatch.
Troopers arrested Hanson after the investigation and are awaiting transport to Bethel this morning.
