Mud Puddle Ends Saturday Wasilla High-Speed Pursuit

Instead of going quietly on Saturday, a 27-year-old Wasilla man decided to take troopers on a wild, high-speed chase through the streets of that Mat-Su Valley town until a mud puddle foiled his attempted escape, troopers say.

At 6:27 pm on Saturday evening, troopers went to an address at Limberlost in Wasilla to serve a $20,000 arrest warrant on 27-year-old Wyatt Metro for Felony Vehicle Theft.

While attempting to serve the felony warrant at the scene, troopers would see their suspect drive past the residence and moved quickly to stop Metro and apprehend him.

Metro had other plans and fled the area, racing through  the neighborhood streets, attempting to shake his pursuers. After turning onto Knik-Goose Bay Road and heading west,  Metro would reach speeds in excess of 80 miles-per-hour and speed through traffic, running red lights in his effort to evade the following troopers.

But, Metro’s decision to take his flight off-road would be his undoing. When he took his vehicle off-road, he encountered a mud puddle that halted his escape.

Metro was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded without bail on his outstanding warrant as well as Felony Eluding charges.
