Officials at the Nenana Ice Classic, the annual spring break up guessing game held in interior Alaska, have announced that they have completed counting all of the tickets submitted, and report that a grand total of 25 winners guest the correct time that the clock was tripped in the game.
The number of winners at this year is higher than average, but that was to be expected, officials say, as their was a record number of tickets sold this year.
Ticket counters for the game had already counted 24 winners as of last week, but a large number of tickets still remain uncounted at that time. At the completion of the account, only one additional ticket had the correct time of the breakup.
This year, the tripod went out at 3:48 PM Alaska standard Time on April 25.April 25 is the seventh earliest time that the ice has gone out since the beginning of the guessing game in 1916. It is also the first time since the beginning of the game that the ice went out on that date.
The names of the winners have yet to be announced, as all winners will be notified before their names are released to the public.
