HEADQUARTERS, U.S. ARMY ALASKA, JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska – Residents in and around JBER and Eagle River may hear loud noises created by live-firing of mortars up to 120 millimeters as the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division conducts a mortar range Jan. 7-14.
Residents should expect to hear noises intermittently throughout the scheduled training days, as the unit fires live rounds into the Eagle River impact area. Depending on weather conditions, the explosions may be heard across the inlet to the Knik-Goose Bay area and from Eklutna to Wasilla.
The training further enhances readiness as the Spartan Brigade prepares to conduct training certification at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, La., in February.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
