HEADQUARTERS, U.S. ARMY ALASKA, JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska – Residents in and around Fort Greely and the Delta Junction area may hear loud explosive noises created by artillery and mortar firing as well as frequent machine gun fire as elements of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division are scheduled to conduct a field training exercise designed to enhance its readiness and ability to quickly respond to crisis, contingencies, and humanitarian missions in the Asia-Pacific region.
The training will commence June 7 with an airborne operation at various drop zones on Fort Greely and end the morning of June 10. Some of the same residents may hear small arms firing as the unit conducts personnel, mounted and dismounted, live fire ranges. In addition, an increase in aviation operations will occur during this period. All training will be conducted within Fort Greely’s training areas.
