HEADQUARTERS U.S. ARMY ALASKA, JBER – Residents in and around the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson area may hear loud booms as Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment conduct live-fire training with 105mm howitzers.
The range is schedule to operate between noon and 4 p.m., Nov. 22. Approximately 20 rounds will be fired. The training is necessary for the field artillery soldiers to maintain their proficiency with the crew-served weapons.
The rounds will be fired from Malemute Drop Zone into the Eagle River Flats impact area, and depending on weather conditions, the resulting explosions will be heard in the Eagle River and Chugiak areas, as well as across the inlet to the Knik-Goose Bay and Wasilla areas.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
