A Noorvik man is in jail following an altercation in that community on Tuesday, the trooper dispatch reports.
After Kotzebue-based troopers received a call from the community of Noorvik of a disturbance in the community, troopers traveled to Noorvik to investigate.
When they arrived in Noorvik, they contacted 32-year-old Carl Smith, who was the subject of the investigation. Their investigation found that Smith had assaulted a family member and had also caused approximately $1,100 worth of damage to that family member’s residence and personal belongings. Troopers determined that alcohol was a factor.
During contact with Smith, Smith “pointed a handgun at the responding troopers,” the trooper dispatch revealed.
Smith was arrested, and transported to Kotzebue where he was remanded to the Kotzebue Regional Jail, where he was charged with Assault III on a Police Officer, Assault IV, and Criminal Mischief.
