Noorvik Man Jailed on Felony DUI and Assault Charges

A Noorvik man is in jail on Felony DUI charges and assault after an incident late Friday afternoon in the community of Noorvik.

At 4:30 pm, the Northwest Arctic Borough Village Public Safety officer in Noorvik opened an investigation into an incident there after a victim called in to the VPO to report an assault. The caller reported that they had attempted to stop an inebriated 22-year-old Brian Jack from driving, at which time Jack grabbed them by the throat.

A check of Jack’s record by the officer would find that Jack had two prior DUI convictions that he was still on probation for. This current arrest for DUI brings that total to three making it a Felony DUI.

Jack was arrested and charged with Felony DUI, Assault IV and two petitions to revoke probation.

With the assistance of the Alaska State Troopers, Jack was transported to the Kotzebue Regional Jail where he was remanded pending arraignment.
