The winners of the 2012 Governor's North Star Awards for International Excellence were announced by Governor Parnell yesterday. The awards were presented by Alaska's Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development Commissioner Susan Bell.

The recipients of the awards were Holland American Line, they received the award for bringing tourism to Alaska, RIM Architects, for its expansion of Alaska services internationally, and Helping Hands for Nepal, who received an award for its efforts in relieving poverty through humanitarian projects in Nepal.
Governor released a statement aknowledging their efforts. “These businesses help our state’s economy and form vital connections to people around the world,” Governor Parnell said. “In 2011, our exports reached $5.2 billion. Today is our opportunity to also thank those active in other important international arenas, including the visitor industry, export of technical services and humanitarian exchange.”
