On Saturday, October 6th, Alaska State Troopers in Emmonak received a telephone call from from Nunam Iqua that a man had been shot.

The call that came in at 10:59 pm, stated that 39-year-old Nunam Iqua resident, James Adams had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
The trooper investigation into the incident found that James Adams son, 18-year-old Derek Adams had shot his father during a confrontation.
The elder Adams was transported by LifeFlight to tje Yukon Kuskokwim Health Center in Bethel for treatment of his wound. James Adams was released from YKHC and expected to be returning home.
Derek Adams was arrested on charges of Assault I and Weapons Misconduct. He was remanded to the Emmonak Jail.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
