One Arrested, One Still at Large in March 17th Fairweather Drive Shooting Case

Anchorage police report that one man has been arrested and charged with two counts of Attempted Murder I, Misconduct Involving a Weapon I, two counts of Attempted Assault I, two counts of Assault III, Misconduct Involving a Weapon III and Criminal Mischief II in a March incident.

On March 17th at 4:28 pm, officers responded to a gunfire incident on the 6600-block of Fairweather Drive and opened an investigation. The victim told officers when interviewed that he had seen two suspicious vehicles in the parking lot of the apartment complex that he managed. He suspected that the occupants of the vehicles were conducting a drug deal. 

The man said that he went over to the occupants and told them to leave the property, then as he was getting into his own vehicle with his pregnant wife, he took pictures of the suspects.

The victim told the investigators that as he was driving away, one of the suspects opened fire on his vehicle, shooting out the rear window. Fortunately, no one was injured.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]Using the imagery that the victim took with his cell phone APD was able to identify one of the suspects and on April 5th, 26-year-old Rasean Daniels was located and determined to be the shooter. He was arrested on the various charges and transported to the Anchorage Jail.

Police have yet to identify the other suspect as of Wednesday. Investigators say that the suspect not located was witness to the shooting and was also the driver of the vehicle that was reported stolen. The vehicle has since been located and recovered by police.
