Alaska State Troopers stated in the trooper dispatch that alcohol and lack of seat belt usage were factors in the death of a woman at mile 135 of the Glenn Highway on Monday morning.
Troopers responded to the scene of a fatal vehicle accident approximately 5.5 miles north of the Eureka Summit at 8:30 am on Monday morning after being notified by a motorist that a vehicle had left the roadway. At the scene, troopers initiated an investigation that found that 27-year-old Jeannie R. Watson “was driving a 2006 Chevy Impala northbound on the Glenn Highway when she drove the vehicle off the roadway and over a berm,” according to the trooper dispatch.
Troopers say that after leaving the roadway, Watson’s vehicle rolled into a stand of thick Alders. When the vehicle rolled, Watson was ejected from the vehicle. Watson was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Watson had recently moved from Anchorage to the Glennallen area approximately one month ago.
The State Medical Examiner’s office was notified and will be conducting an autopsy as the investigation continues.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
