King Salmon-based Alaska State Troopers stated today that the Pebble Partnership reported vandalism at the Iliamna incinerator site.
Troopers said that on February 3, 2014, the Pebble Partnership called King Salmon to report that ten plastic totes, valued at $1,000 apiece, were set on fire and completely destroyed on February 1.
Pebble reported that the totes were incide of a chain link enclosure, and they believe that they were set ablaze from outside the fence.
The 4×4 totes owned by Pebble were used to bring materials to the site for incineration.
Due to the high heat from the plastic fire, some of the wiring at the site was damaged as well.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and Alaska State Troopers are asking that anyone with information about the fire to please contact them in King Salmon or Iliamna at 246-3464 or 571-1871.
