ANCHORAGE, Alaska-An Anchorage pedestrian is in critical condition in a local hospital after sustaining head injuries in a vehicle/pedestrian collision Wednesday night at about 5:15 pm.
The pedestrian was identified as 33 year-old Benjamin Raley.
According to witnesses, Raley was standing at the northwest corner of the intersection of Muldoon and Sixth Avenue waiting to cross Muldoon. A 1999 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by Nadaris Whitted, was traveling north on Muldoon and entered the intersection on a yellow light and struck Raley as he began crossing the intersection. Raley had attempted to cross before the crosswalk signal changed, the driver tried to slow his progress as he struck Raley to no avail.
Officers investigating the acccident, found no signs of impaiment on the part of the driver and no citations were issued at the scene.
