A pilot injured in a North Pole crash on Wednesday,when his aircraft crashed shortly after landing in that small interior Alaska community.
Alaska State troopers responded to Lakloey Airfield in North Pole at 2:20 PM on Wednesday after the incident, following a report that a piper Cherokee 140/PA-28 aircraft had crashed there after it had touched down.
The trooper investigation revealed that the pilot of the aircraft, 30-year-old Louis M. Jara had suffered injuries as a result of the crash. His passenger, identified as 32-year-old Joshua S. Bolton, was uninjured in the crash.
“Jara suffered minor head injuries and was transported to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital by emergency medical personnel,” troopers reported.
The aircraft sustained major damage.
Federal Aviation Administration personnel also responded to the scene and took over case responsibility, the trooper dispatch reported.
