Last week, the Dillingham Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team, with the help of the Dillingham Police and the Koliganek Village Public Safety Officer, conducted an investigation into possession and distribution of heroin in the small, western Alaska community.
As a result of their investigation, two search warrants were issued and executed on the residence of 26-year-old Koliganek resident James Folsom Jr.
The search of the home was conducted with the assistance of the Dillingham Police Department’s K9, “Lutri.” Over 4 grams of heroin and approximately $2,000 in cash was found and seized from the residence.
While in the presence of officers, Folsom atttempted to dispose of evidence. Folsom was arrested and charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II and tampering with Physical Evidence.
Officers transported Folsom to Dillingham Correctional Center and held with no bail until his arraignment.
On Friday morning, Folsom was arraigned in Dillingham Court and his bail was set at $20,000 plus a court approved third party.

Also on Friday, Folsom’s wife, 25-year-old Patricia Byrne was arrested in Koliganek.
Byrne was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, and Tampering with Physical Evidence after she attempted to throw heroin out the window, then ultimately hiding it in a hole in the wall.
Byne was also found to be in the possession of marijuana and charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI.
Byrne was also arraigned in Dillingham Court and her bail was set at $10,000 plus a court approved third party.
