Alaska State Troopers in King Salmon were notified of the activation of an emergency transmitter near Becharof Lake on Sunday.
The Emergency Locator Beacon that went off was registered to bear hunters from the North Pole area.
Troopers responded to the location of the beacon. When they arrived at the location, they found two hunters in need of assistance.
According to reports, Tyler Williamson, age 31, and Brandon Griffel, age 29, both of whom are from North Pole, had landed their Cessna 180 on a gravel bar in the area. When they touched down, the landing gear dug into the soft sand of the gravel bar, tipping the aircraft forward on its nose causing a prop strike.
The damage to the prop was damaged to the extent that the aircraft was rendered inoperable.
Both Williamson and Griffel were transported from their location and taken to King Salmon.
