A 21-year-old Quinhagak man accused of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor and Furnishing Alcohol to Minors gained an additional hour of freedom at the expense of extra charges leveled against him after a brief escape in Bethel on Tuesday.
Brenton White slipped his restraints that connected him to another inmate while on the way to court on Tuesday. He made good his escape while in the parking lot behind the Bethel Court House as he and other inmates were being led to their respective court appearances.
The Court Services Officer was unable to pursue the escaping White as he had other prisoners in his custody at the time.[xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]
Alaska State Troopers, Bethel Police, Adult Probation Officers and othe CSOs immediately took up the search for White, and within an hour, White was seen running across the highway near the courthouse. He was apprehended as he attempted to hide in an abandoned house at that location.
He did not come peacefully however, and troopers report that he resisted as troopers and an Adult Probation Officer took him into custody. The officers reported “minor injuries in the form of bruises and scratches.”
White would complain of leg pain however, but, was checked out and medically cleared.
White who had missed his 8:30 am court appearance due to his escape, would make his 1:30 pm appointment before the judge.
White was additionally charged with Escape II, Resisting Arrest, and two Counts of Assault IV on a Police Officer for his bid at freedom from jail.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]
