On Monday morning, an off-duty Police Officer encountered a man driving a black 2003 Dodge Neon on Fairview Loop near Carl Drive in Wasilla after that vehicle was driving recklessly according to trooper reports.
The officer called in and reported the driver as a REDDI(Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) after the vehicle almost struck him three times. According to the report, the officer contacted the driver, that was later identified as 31-year-old Wasilla resident Vasily Avetsiuk, as he was stopped on the side of the road. The officer identified himself as a police officer and told the driver to cease operation of his vehicle. The driver, Avetsiuk, did not heed the officer’s orders, and sped off down the road.
