Firefighters initially had difficulty getting to the wreckage of the plane because of intense flames that consumed the aircraft. By the time the fire was put out, very little of the plane remained unburned.
All ten victims were ultimately retrieved from the wreckage. The names of the passengers have yet to be revealed. The only person identified in the crash is the pilot, Willy Rediske, who was also the owner of the air taxi service. All of the bodies have been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage where they will undergo autopsies and procedures to positively identify their remains.
Investigators from NTSB are traveling from Washington D.C. to conduct the investigation of the crash. Alaska-based Investigator Bruce Banning is also returning for the investigation. He had earlier gone to the scene of the San Francisco Asiana crash that occured earlier in the week.
