Human remains were found in Brevig Mission about three miles west of town on the shoreline on Wednesday.
Troopers were immediately notified of the find. Troopers determined tentatively that the remains were that of Clarence Olanna who went missing earlier this month. Aolanna disappeared on the fifteenth of this month and only the clothes that he was reported wearing when last seen were found. After six days of searching Alaska State Troopers called off the active search.
Volunteer searchers located the remains on Thursday.
The remains will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for definite identification and probable cause of death
