After being reported missing for ten days, the remains of a Fairbanks man were discovered on his property, and a suspect has been arrested in connection with his death Monday.
It was on December 4th, that 51-year-old Michael Pope was reported missing by his employer. Troopers say that after interviewing family and friends, it was determined that the last day that Pope was seen or heard from was November 25th.
“After following up with interviews and search warrants, the body of a deceased person was located on Pope’s property” on December 14th, troopers reported. Troopers continued their interviews, and they now believe that the remains located on the Pope property are those of Michael Pope.
Following their investigation, Fairbanks woman, 50-year-old Monica Forbes, who troopers say was a long-time acquaintance, was arrested and charged with Murder I and Tampering with Evidence.
