JUNEAU – Today, Representative Pete Petersen (D-Anchorage) invited his East Anchorage neighbors and others throughout the city who have electricity after Tuesday’s storm to donate canned food, flashlights, batteries, candles and other emergency supplies to those who still do not have power and may be running low on essentials.

“Many of our East Anchorage neighborhoods are the last still without power, and an extra set of batteries or some non-perishable food could go a long way toward helping them out until we get power back,” said Rep. Petersen. “I’ve always been proud of how Alaskans come together in times of need, and I hope this effort will help families recover from the storm.”
He asked those who can, to bring donations to the “Spirit of Muldoon” community picnic from noon to 2:00pm tomorrow, September 8, at the Old Green House Property, 2140 Muldoon Rd near Fred Meyer and the intersection of Debarr Road and Muldoon Road. Those who could use more supplies are encouraged to come by the picnic to pick them up. Rep. Petersen will donate any supplies not picked up to local emergency relief organizations.
