Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, the House Budget Committee Chairman got the tap from Romney as his Vice-Presidential pick at 7:04 am. The word was announced to users of Romney's phone app this morning.

The Romney campaign hopes that choosing Ryan as Romney’s running mate will help his image, one of a flip-flopper by his opponents.

The 42-year-old Representative beat out Senator Rob Portman and Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, two of the GOP favorites for the potential vice presidency.

The choice of Ryan as a running mate was hoped for by many in the GOP circles as well as in the democratic community. Ryan’s controversial budget plans which includes a proposal to turn Medicare into a system of private insurance partially funded by federal subsidies is sure to become one of the main issues as the team gears up for general election campaigning.

The Democrats are saying that Ryans plan will be the end of Medicare as we know it. Democrats are hoping that Obama will be highlighting Ryan’s budget plans as much as possible. With the Ryan pick, Democrats think that they will pick up more congressional seats. Romney was an early supporter of the Representative’s plan.

Ryan was also a previous critic of Romney’s Massachusetts health care reform, saying he was “not a fan off the system” back in 2010.

Romney has vowed to repeal the Obama Health care law if elected. Obama has long said that his healthcare law was fasioned after the healthcare law Romney put into place in Massachusetts.
