Searchers in Fairbanks continue to search for a man who was last seen slipping beneath the surface of the Chena River near the Peger Road Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.
The man, who authorities have yet to identify, was one of four people who went into the water after their raft overturned on the river at about 4pm on Tuesday. The other three occupants were able to swim to shore after the incident.
Searchers from the Fairbanks and University Fire Department were on the scene looking for the missing boater for several hours yesterday. They had no positive results.
They describe the missing man as being in his 40s and dressed in a dark-colored hoodie and jeans. He was not wearing a life preserver at the time of the incident.
