NOORVIK, Alaska-On Friday, Alaska State troopers released a report on Floyd Knox, age 35, of Selawik.
According to their release, on Wednesday, December 21st, Floyd Knox, after leaving Noorvik after playing in a city league basketball tournament he was involved in a fatal snow machine crash.
The report said Knox had left Noorvik and was about five miles out of the community, when he was thrown from his vehicle while traveling at unsafe speeds. He succumbed to the injuries sustained in the fall. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Noorvik EMT’s and Firefighters that responded to the accident.
According to reports, Knox had been drinking prior to the accident. He had fallen from his snow machine just prior to the accident, but was able to remount and proceeded down the trail. The second, fatal accident occurred about one half mile from his first mishap.
Next of kin was informed of the accident and the State Medical Examiner has requested an autopsy of Knox’s remains.
