On Friday and on the weekend, Senator Begich will be traveling through Southeast Alaska, where he will be making stops in Ketchikan, Sitka and Juneau.
His first stop will be in Ketchikan, where first he will do an overview of the Wards Cove Development Project, where an industrial and fishing hub is planned. The project is taking place on land formerly occupied by the Ketchikan Pulp Company until its closure in 1997.
The project will ultimately serve the oil and gas industry, mining, transportation, tourism and the timber industry along with fisheries.
A luncheon will be held at the Cape Fox Lodge where Begich will speak at a joint luncheon of the Greater Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Ketchikan.
The afternoon will be filled with a tour of the new shipyard facility that is located at the former Alaska Ship and Drydock.

On Saturday, Begich will travel to Sitka, where in the morning, he will attend the rededication of the Sitka Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall.
Then, a tour of the new United States Coast Guard biomass project will take place, before spending a half an hour available for the media at the Coast Guard conference room.
Begich will fill his afternoon in Sitka with a tour of the Sitka Economic Development Association with the executive director Garry White. Additionally, he will be visiting the campus of the Sheldon Jackson College looking over the general campus as well as visiting with Sitka Fine Arts Camp leaders.
Begich will top off his Sitka visit as keynote speaker at the 100th anniversary celebration dinner for the Alaska Native Brotherhood dinner at Harrington Hall.
In Juneau, the senator will visit the University of Alaska Southeast where there will be a waffle breakfast at the lodge.
