Residents in Nahariya and Akko heard air raid sirens and explosions on Thursday afternoon as rockets were fired out of Lebanon into Israeli territory across the border.
Media outlets in Lebanon report that at least two rockets were fired from that country from the Al Kalila region in southern Lebanon. The rockets targetted the area of Western Galilee. A total of four Katyusha-type are reported to have been fired.
Israel officials say that they assume that the rockets were fired by representatives of the International Jihadist Movement. Police are advising residents in northern Israel to stay close to shelters or safe rooms in case further rocket attacks are carried out.
No militant organization has claimed responsibilty for the attacks and Israel has yet to retaliate.
