A 25-year-old South Carolina man, Blake Randall Wardell is dead from a gunshot wound to the chest on Wednesday after asking his friends to shoot him.
Wardell and his friends were hanging around in a garage in Honea Path, South Carolina when they came across a kevlar vest there. Wardell put on the vest and asked his friends to test it and persuaded one of them to shoot him.
One of his friends shot Wardell point black with a small caliber weapon. The bullet hit Wardell above the kevlar protection in the vest and Wardell was shot in the heart.
CPR was administered to Wardell, but he bled out and died at the scene.
One of the man’s friends, a teenage girl was being questioned in connection with the shooting. The woman, Taylor Ann Kelly originally told officials that she pulled the trigger that caused Wardell’s death, but later admitted that she had lied to the investigators.
Another man, 25-year-old Timothy Fisher has now been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter for the shooting.
The shooting has been ruled a homicide by the coroners office.
