Kodiak-based food inspector for the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Michael Gardner called into the Kodiak Police Department on Monday afternoon after being in an accident at the intersection of Marine Way and Mission Road in Kodiak.

When police arrived at the scene, they found that Gardner had been involved in a two-car accident.
At the police station in Kodiak, 59-year-old Gardner was administered a breathalyzer test, which he failed. Accordning to reports, Gardner blew a 0.248. This is much higher than the .08 limit for driving.
Gardner was placed under arrest and charged with a DUI.
His court date for arraignment is set for September 28th.
The accident occurred while Gardner was driving a state-owned vehicle.
