In this week's Begich Minute, U.S. Sen. Mark Begich and his staff bring the "Got Your 6" movement, a campaign to "inspire Americans to help bridge the civilian-military divide," to offices on Capitol Hill, rallying staffers and members of the military working on the Hill to let veterans know that their government is committed to supporting returning military veterans and their families. Used in the military, the expression "Got Your Six" means "I've got your back." Begich, a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee and Senate Veterans Job Caucus, promoted the campaign today by delivering Got Your 6 pins to Senators and their staffs.
About Got Your 6:
Through the six pillars outlined on www.GotYour6.org website –jobs, education, housing, health, family, and leadership — GotYour6 partners with veterans and military groups, housing organizations, education advocates, and groups like the Chamber of Commerce to make sure that our nation's returning service men and women, who are "civic assets" and well-suited to leadership roles in our communities, are reintegrated into civilian life, helping to strengthen our communities.
