The IRS announced late last week that there are refunds waiting for many Alaskans that did not file their 2008 returns.
In their press release, the IRS stated that there was up to $5,952,000 due to Alaskan taxpayers. They estimate the median amount of refund at about $641. Those who failed to file in 2008, may have qualified for a Recovery Rebate Credit, or the Earned Income Tax Credit.
However, the IRS also stated, that people who did not file in 2009 or 2010, may have their rebate checks withheld.
They urge taxpayers that did not file, to do so, before the filing deadline for that year ends on April 17th,2012.
