Troopers apprehend February North Star Center Walk-Away

trooperarrestAlaska State Troopers report that they have apprehended a Fairbanks man that they had been seeking for the last month, after an anonymous tip on Saturday.

An anonymous tip went in to troopers at 3pm in the afternoon on Saturday, informing them where they could find 24-year-old Fairbanks man Byron Toovak, who had walked away from the North Star Center on the night of February 4th.

The tipster told troopers that Toovak was living at a residence on Fairbank’s Glasgow Drive. Troopers responded to that location to serve two warrants, one for Felony Escape and another for Probation Violation.

When they arrived on-scene, troopers would locate Toovak hiding in a closet. Toovak “refused to comply with directions and used physical force against Troopers and a bystander in order to escape the residence,” troopers reported. They also reported that despite his efforts, Toovak was quickly subdued.

Toovak was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center, where he was remanded without bail on the two warrants as well as new charges of Resisting Arrest.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
