After receiving a call of shots being fired at a residence in Aleknagik, Alaska State Troopers responded to the community at 8:10 pm.

After an investigation of the incident, it was revealed by troopers that 46-year-old Aleknagik resident, Joseph Coolidge was drinking and got into an altercation with one of his neighbors.
Subsequent to the altercation, Coolidge left that residence and went to his boat and retrieved a shotgun. Coolidge began firing the shotgun indiscriminately, firing off several rounds. At one point Coolidge pointed the weapon at one of the community’s residents.
After discharging his weapon several times, Coolidge left the area.
Described as highly intoxicated, Coolidge was located by Alaska State Troopers and the Village Public Safety Officer and taken into custody.
Coolidge was charged with Assault III and Misconduct involving Weapons IV.
He was transported to Dillingham and remanded to the Dillingham Jail pending arraignment.
