On Sunday, Alaska State Troopers arrested a man wanted on several warrants as well as a woman at a residence in Wasilla for hindering prosecution troopers report via trooper dispatch.
At 7:45 pm on Sunday evening, troopers arrived at a residence on South Bel Aire Drive in Wasilla in search of 28-year-old Matthias W. Sturgeon of Wasilla. Sturgeon had three outstanding warrants for his arrest, including a warrant for $5,000 for Failure to Appear for Trial Call on charges of Fraudulent Use of Access Device, Forgery I, and Theft II. He also had warrants issued for Failure to Appear for Pretrial Conference for the original charge of Criminal Trespass II in the amount of $1,500, as well as a $500 warrant for Failure to Appear for arraignment on the charge of Violating Conditions of Release.
After a short search, Sturgeon was found hiding in a storage space in the residence.
As a result, the homeowner, 48-year-old Lynn M. Knutson was placed under arrest for one count of Hindering Prosecution I and two counts of Hindering Prosecution II.
Both Knutson ans Sturgeon were transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer where they were remanded. Knutson’s bail was set at $2,500 while Sturgeon was held on his warrant bail.
