State Troopers with the Southcentral Bureau of Highway Patrol made a routine traffic stop for a broken headlight and sppeding at one minute after midnight early Sunday morning.
Troopers stopped the 1999 green Ford Ranger on the Parks Highway near Vine Street near Wasilla.
When stopped, the occupants of the vehicle failed to inform the officers that they had weapons aboard the vehicle.
Further investigation found that the two Houston residents, 23-year-old Nicholas Barnes and 41-year-old Michael Hale possessed loaded firearms as well as methamphetamines and other controlled substances.

Both Hale and Barnes were arrested and transporrted to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility. Further investigation at that time found that Hale possessed more amphetamine packaged for sale, more prescription drugs as well as ammunition.
Hale was charged with MIW(Misconduct involving Weapons) II, MICS(Misconduct involving Controlled Substance) III, MICS IV, Promoting Contraband I x2, Promoting Contraband II, MICS V, and MIW V.
Barnes was charged with MIW II, MICS IV, MIW V, and MICS VI.
Both Hale and Barnes were remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with their bail set at $15,000 and a Court Appointed Third party.
