Alaska State Troopers have made an arrest in the break-ins that have been taking place at thee Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ward building at 10865 Horizon in Wasilla.
Troopers have investigated three incidents involving break-ins at the church this month.
On the first occasion, troopers and the Central Mat-Su Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the church at 8:27 am on November 2nd. After arriving at the scene, fire officials and troopers found no evidence of a fire. But, the church had suffered several thousands of dollars in damage during that event. There were no clues as to the identity of the person who carried out the act of vandalism.
Three days later, on November 5th, at about 7 am, troopers responded to the church again for the report of a break-in. More vandalism had taken place on that day.
The, yet another report of a break-in was placed on November 11th. The call came in at 6 am. Another burglary and additional vandalism had taken place.

With evidence gathered from the burglary, troopers made an arrest later that morning at 9:30 am. Troopers went to a residence on Knik Goose Bay Road and contacted a 15-year-old boy. He was arrested for three counts of Burglary II and three counts of Criminal Mischief III.
Damage to the church is estimated at $40,000.
The boy was taken to the Mat-Su Youth Facility and held without bail.
